MERRITT VOLLEYBALL ASSOCIATION

The 18th Annual Volleyfest Tournament occurs this year - 2010!!

In the past, we have seen teams from all over BC and as far away as Alberta come to play in the tournaments.

The proceeds from the tournaments have amounted to more than $70,000 which has been directed back into our community in a number of different activities, including:

• Construction of Beach Volleyball Courts
• Sponsorship of School Volleyball Programs
• Establishment of a yearly Scholarship Program

Our Volleyfest 2010 theme was "Go For the Gold" to celebrate our country hosting the Winter Olympics!  We had 28 Teams play in the Mixed Tournament and 31 Teams play in the Ladies Tournament.

Our Volleyfest 2009 theme was "Hollywood" where we had teams dress up as celebrities from Movies or TV Shows.  We had the likes of Grey's Anatomy, Men In Black and Austin Powers: Goldmember". We had 24 Mixed teams and 23 Ladies teams.

Our Volleyfest 2008 theme was "So you think you can hit? spike? drink? party?" loosely based on the reality show, "So you think you can dance?" We had 31 teams in both the Mixed and the Ladies Tournament.

Our Volleyfest 2007 theme was a James Bond "007" theme to tie in with the year 2007.   We had 26 teams play in the Mixed Tournament and 30 Teams in the Ladies Tournament.
